THE CHURCH HERITAGE AND CHILDREN/YOUNG PEOPLE
We believe that our younger generation are our present and our future and this forms a vital part of our planed sharing of our heritage. We continue to highlight the importance of children and young people in our thinking, and the range of activities we are proposing exemplifies that belief. We want to raise children and young people’s awareness of the heritage of St Mary’s by educating and informing in an informal, relaxed, interactive and welcoming way.
Our activities will build on this through establishing strong relationships with local schools by supplementing and enriching the curriculum, and by offering specific activities on an annual basis that celebrate the heritage of the church.
We will be particularly keen to utilise modern technology to engage with an age group who are frequently more familiar with such methods than many adults. There will also be a focus on involving young people in the evaluation of the heritage activities they have experienced.
